Information
Commission Terms
Every Abbie Hart commission is an original piece of artwork, created individually and by hand. Before requesting a commission, please take a moment to read the following.
Requesting a Commission
Please complete the commission enquiry form with a little information about the subject you would like Abbie to paint, your preferred size and any particular requirements.
Clear, high-quality reference photographs are essential. Abbie will review the images provided and confirm whether they are suitable before accepting the commission.
Submitting an enquiry does not commit you to proceeding and does not guarantee that Abbie will be able to accept the commission.
Pricing
The price will be agreed before work begins and will depend on the size and complexity of the artwork and the number of subjects included.
Any framing, delivery or other additional costs will be clearly agreed in advance.
Deposit & Payment
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your commission and Abbie’s time in her diary.
The remaining balance is payable once the artwork is complete and before collection or dispatch.
Work will not begin until the deposit has been received.
Timescales
As every commission is individually created, completion times can vary. An estimated timescale will be provided when your commission is accepted.
If the artwork is required for a particular occasion — such as Christmas, a birthday, wedding or anniversary — please mention this when making your enquiry. Abbie will confirm whether the required date can be accommodated before accepting the commission.
The Artwork
By commissioning Abbie, you are commissioning a piece in Abbie Hart’s own artistic style and interpretation.
Reference photographs are used as inspiration for the finished artwork rather than being reproduced as an exact photographic copy.
Minor artistic decisions relating to composition, colour, background and detail remain at Abbie’s discretion and form part of the creative process.
Changes
Where appropriate, Abbie may share an image of the completed artwork before final payment.
Reasonable minor adjustments may be considered where practical. Significant changes to the agreed composition or subject after work has begun may incur an additional charge.
Cancellation
Because commissioned artwork is created specifically for you, the deposit is non-refundable once your commission has been accepted and Abbie has reserved the time in her diary.
If Abbie is unable to complete the commission for any reason, any payments made will be refunded.
Copyright
Copyright in all commissioned artwork remains with Abbie Hart, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Purchasing or commissioning an original artwork does not transfer copyright or reproduction rights.
Abbie retains the right to photograph the completed artwork and to use images of it for her portfolio, website, social media, exhibitions, prints, cards and other promotional or commercial purposes.
If your commission is intended to be private or is a surprise gift, please let Abbie know and she will be happy to delay sharing it publicly.
The customer may not reproduce, copy, sell reproductions of, or commercially use the artwork without Abbie’s prior written permission.
Reference Photographs
You must have permission to provide and use any photographs supplied to Abbie for the purpose of creating the commissioned artwork.
Where a photograph has been taken by a professional photographer or another third party, you are responsible for obtaining any necessary permission before submitting it.
Delivery
Original artwork will be carefully packaged for delivery or can be collected where agreed.
Any applicable delivery charges will be confirmed before the commission is accepted.
Abbie cannot be responsible for delays caused by delivery providers once an artwork has been dispatched, although she will assist with resolving any delivery problems wherever possible.
A Final Note
Commissioning a piece of art is a wonderfully personal process. Abbie puts enormous care into capturing not simply how her subjects look, but their individual character and spirit.
If you have any questions before commissioning a piece, please get in touch.
